Hawaii 2009

Ryan and I had such a blast in Hawaii. We went for 9 days to North Shore Oahu with our friends Tiffanee and Galen. There was plenty of eating, snorkeling, shopping, and more eating. It was a great break from reality, but by the end we really missed the kids.

Ryan eating baby octupus at Ola' at Turtle Bay. This restaurant was right on the beach, it was absolutely beautiful... the octopus grossed me out though!

Turtle Bay. We snorkeled and swam here quite a bit. It was only a short walk from our condo.

Ryan at Ola' for lunch. The beach was beautiful.

Sorry I didn't take too many pictures. I just had a lot of fun. Tiffanee and I tried Stand Up Paddle Boarding which was fun. We also snorkled Waimea Bay, Shark's Cove, and Turtle Bay. Shark's Cove was amazing, I recommend it to anyone heading to the North Shore. We also did some shopping. There was a huge swap meet we went to. There were hundreds of vendors selling anything you can imagine. We shopped at the Ala Moana mall which is huge! We ate at a ton of great restaurants including four times at Anna Miller's. We had a blast!

Easter

Better late than never right?
This year we had a small easter at our house then went to grandma Johnson's for an easter egg treasure hunt. Dodge had a blast finding all the eggs and loved all the goodies. Even Addison enjoyed some spoils.

Sea World

Since Ryan and I are in Hawaii, Dan and Mindy took the kids to Sea World on Sunday with Patti, Dennis, Chelsea, and Cammi. I literally stole all of these pics from Aunt Patti, but they were so cute I thought I would post them on here. I promise I will post some pics of Hawaii, but I have been having so much fun that I haven't been taking many pictures.

Pretty much a summary of our April

I know... I say this at the beginning of every post: I am so bad about posting, I will try to post more... blah, blah, blah!

Well, I guess I am never gonna change so you will all have to put up with my sporadic posts :)

April was a crazy month for us, we started with the whole Addison-in-the-hospital thing and ended with some of her big milestones. We are so glad to be able to report that Addison is doing very well, and is very healthy and happy. About two weeks ago, Addison figured out how to crawl. She kinda does the worm, but it works for her. She is so fast that in just under a minute she can scoot clear out of her room all the way to Dodge's room and have quite the mess made. Dodge used to look forward to the days when Addison could play with him in his room, now that they are here he isn't as fond of the idea.

Another great milestone... TEETH! Like most teething babies, she has been a wee bit cranky! She has popped in two teeth so far and there are more that are pretty close. She has one on the top, and one on the bottom.

Dodge is almost done with preschool. He will graduate this month and unfortunately, Ryan and I will be vacationing in Hawaii when he does... Sorry Dodge, we love you and are very proud of you but we won't be cancelling to attend. Dodge has become a very good reader and knows so many words. He is really excited to go to kindergarten with all the big kids in the fall. Dodge had his 5 year checkup at the doctor and had to get 5 shots! He decided it was worth it to be able to go to kindergarten. His most favorite thing in the world is to make his sister laugh. He likes to build all sorts of things out of legos and give them to Ryan and I. My favorite was when he made our family out of potato heads.

Easter was pretty low key at our house this year. Dodge had a lot of fun at Grandma Johnson's when she did the Easter egg treasure hunt. It was really cute. I promise, I took pictures and will post them soon.

For an early anniversary present, I surprised Ryan with a four wheeler. It was pretty hard to try and keep it a secret. He came home and opened the garage and there it was! I only wish I would have put a big bow on it. He has taken it out a couple times already and is having fun with it. Now... to find one for me :)

I have learned a lot at home, and at work in the last month. I was able to have some great patient assignments that have taught me a lot. I always end up feeling lucky to have learned more about disease processes and even luckier not to have the diseases themselves. At home, I have learned a lot about myself. Nothing will teach you a quick lesson in humility like having a very sick child. I have taken a lot of time to reflect and to learn. It amazes me how so many things have fallen into place for us to be where we are right now. Ryan and I have decided that it is time to do the things we need to do to get our family to the temple. It just feels like the time has come and we shouldn't wait any longer. It is something I feel our children deserve and it will help our family focus on what is really important in this life. So wish us luck, and pray for us to keep on track and we will let you know our progress :)

I just want to end by saying thank you for everyones love, support, and prayers while Addison was sick. We have truly been so blessed.

Our family has definately learned a lot in the last month. We are so greatful for all the ways we have been blessed.
