Zumba!
I tried Zumba for the first time last night. It was a blast. I'm pretty sure I looked ridiculous. It's okay, so did everyone else. Next time, I will take a towel. I was covered in sweat by the time we were done. Thanks Tiff for the invite, I loved it!

I know my dad is going to be completely shocked when he reads this! I know we live it one of the best places for outdoor recreation, but we are so bad about actually venturing out and doing stuff. My dad makes fun of me all the time for not taking the kids out more. Well, this last weekend, we went up to Zion with our friends Galen and Tiffanee. We biked a great 3 mile trail in Zion and then had a great BBQ in Springdale. Dodge surprised me with how tough he is. He biked nearly the whole way up and rode all the way back down. He only took one spill and barely got a scrape on his knee. I think the fall scared him more than it actually hurt him. Addison absolutely loved riding in the bike trailer. She made sure to say 'hi' to every single person we passed. She also said 'woof, woof' to all the dogs. It was too cute. When we got back down the trail, we headed into Springdale and started up some charcoal on the grill. Galen and Tiffanee got some bleu cheese burgers from Harmon's and let me just tell you, they were honestly the best burgers I have ever had in my entire life! We followed up the feast with some smore's. The kids had so much fun. It was so nice up there. I am going to try and get us out more often to enjoy the great area we live in. We are so glad that Galen and Tiff invited us to go with them.

Dixie Escalante Kite Festival
Dodge has been keeping track of all the minutes he has read. He got to redeem all of his minutes read for a pretty sweet kite at the kite festival. We headed over to Sun River and did just about everything except actually fly a kite! There wasn't enough wind to keep the kites in the air unfortunately. It was fun anyway and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Dodge got to meet some characters from Star Wars. There were plenty of carnival games for the kids. They even had some bounce houses, slides, carnival rides, and a train ride. There were plenty of booths and even some live entertainment. After the kite festival, we had to go over and meet Spongebob at Boulevard Home Furnishings. I think that was the best part of Addison's day. She really loves Spongebob.

We were shuttled to the festival in school buses. This was Addison's first bus ride.

The awesome kites!

Dodge showing off his golf skills

Dodge loves soccer. Addison just picked up the ball and threw it over the top!

Addison enjoying her first snowcone!
Dodge loves to dance. I find his dancing pretty darn entertaining. Addison prefers to just spin in circles.

Who thought someone could like a sponge so much?

I absolutely love when my parents come down to visit. We always do something outside. They were down this last weekend for Easter and my sister Katie's spring break. Luckily there was a break in the weather and we went up to the red hills to do some hiking. Being up there, once again, reminded me of how fortunate we are to live in such a great area. It is beautiful here.

April 4th, 2009: Easter
This year for Easter, the Easter Bunny left a note and a map for the kids. Dodge was a little worried that he didn't leave any candy or hide the eggs because we didn't leave the Easter Bunny any carrots. After he read the note, he calmed down a little bit. The note said that the Easter Bunny had a very special egg hunt for Dodge and Addison and they had to follow the instructions on the map to find it. It lead us out by Gunlock Reservoir. There were eggs and candy all over the rocks. Dodge had fun hiking around and finding all his goodies. Addison was quite thrilled that there was so much candy for her to sample and then place in her basket. It was a nice day be outside. Dodge proclaimed it was the best Easter ever!

Saturday April 3rd, 2010: Easter Treasure Hunt at Grama and Papa Johnsons
The kids loved last years Easter Treasure Hunt at Grama's so much that they requested it again this year. They love going from clue to clue and finding some great prizes along the way. It was great! Thanks Grama and Papa J!

Addison likes to wear my shades...

She was so cute to put everything in her basket, making sure not to miss a thing

Dodge got this awesome Lego set, a fire truck complete with a ladder and hose, and a trailer that holds a rescue boat too.

Addison had to open the goldfish right away.

So I decided this year I would put forth a little more effort for General Conference. I found this awesome conference journal for preschooler's. I know, Dodge isn't a preschooler anymore, but I figured it would be a little easier for him to do. Hey, as long as he can tell me one thing he learned from the prophet, I will be very pleased. You can get a copy of this Conference Journal here. Another great site with great ideas and awesome lesson helps is Sugardoodle

March 27th, 2009: A picnic at the Dixie rock with Papa
We packed a lunch and headed out to enjoy the sunshine. We flew kites at the park in the morning, but of course I forgot my camera. The kids had fun climbing around the rocks. Dodge scared me a few times due to his general lack of fear. He would just run right up to the edge of the rocks. Addison is refusing to take naps in the morning anymore, or anytime I try to put her in her crib really. She instead likes to stay up and fall asleep in her car seat, her high chair, or just laying on the carpet in the living room. She started getting pretty cranky and of course, fell asleep on the way back home. She liked running around for a while and we found a caterpillar that kept her interest for a minute. It was a beautiful day to be outside and we always love having Papa Mooney visit.
