March 27th, 2009: A picnic at the Dixie rock with Papa

We packed a lunch and headed out to enjoy the sunshine. We flew kites at the park in the morning, but of course I forgot my camera. The kids had fun climbing around the rocks. Dodge scared me a few times due to his general lack of fear. He would just run right up to the edge of the rocks. Addison is refusing to take naps in the morning anymore, or anytime I try to put her in her crib really. She instead likes to stay up and fall asleep in her car seat, her high chair, or just laying on the carpet in the living room. She started getting pretty cranky and of course, fell asleep on the way back home. She liked running around for a while and we found a caterpillar that kept her interest for a minute. It was a beautiful day to be outside and we always love having Papa Mooney visit.

Since it is raining outside and we are stuck in the casa for spring break, I figured I could upload a few pictures of the kids and post a little update to the blog. I don't remember ever having this much rain since I have lived in St. George. I don't know that we are actually getting more rain than usual but it feels like it to me. In between the rainy days, we have had a few nice days. Whenever it's nice out, I take the kids up to the park. I still can't believe that park doesn't have any swings, what's up with that? The kids really like to play in the sand pit. Addison is getting pretty good at climbing up the stairs and going down the little slide all by herself. Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow.



Ryan and I have started P90X, and it is tough. I mean, really, really tough. I already feel stronger and have more energy. I hope to be able to finish at least one whole workout without having to take a break. I don't know that we will make it 100% for 90 days but it's better than nothing in my opinion. Ryan was supposed to start softball two weeks ago, however, it has rained everyday he was supposed to play so he still hasn't had a single game. It will be fun to see how they try to make up all those games. I have really wanted to get out my clubs and do some golfing. I need to make Ryan take me. Let's hope we can get the weather to cooperate. I am looking forward to doing some four wheeling too.

Dodge is out this whole week and next Monday for spring break. I swear I never had that much time off school. I just hope the weather clears up so we can actually spend some of it outside. I might just go crazy if it doesn't. Dodge had his SEP a couple weeks ago. It was so great to hear how well he is doing at school. He is reading really well. I have been impressed at the words he picks up on so quickly. We are planning on getting him into T-ball this spring. That should be interesting to see. I hope he has some fun with it.

Addison amazes me with how smart she is. She is learning a lot of words. She will imitate all most anything. I think the funniest is 'poo-poo, cah-cah'. She is learning all the animals sounds too. It is sooo cute. She surprised Ryan and I the other night when she counted five-six with a show on TV. It was amazing. She loves going to nursery on Sunday. I can't imaging who wouldn't with all those toys and snacks too. She is really a great little girl.

I told Dodge to show me his muscles in this picture... I guess he thought that some balled up fists would do! He is so funny. He is already half way through kindergarten. It really goes by so fast. I remember waiting so long for Christmas break and it felt like forever. Not anymore I tell ya. Dodge is six, looks like a second grader, and you cannot reason with him because, well, he is always right. He sure keeps us on our toes. We love him so.

Since I haven't posted anything about Dodge lately I had him answer some questions for me. These are his real answers, verbatim. He makes me laugh.

Tell me the five best things about you: I can read, I am nice to my friends, I can be good, I can eat chicken good, I am good at riding my scooter.

If you could tell me never to serve two vegetables again, which two would you choose? Broccoli and carrots.

If a genie would give you only one wish, what would you wish for? Legos beacause I love Legos.

If you are feeling sad, what would make you happy? If one of my friends came over and helped me feel better.

What are you most scared of? The rain when it goes on my window, it’s really scary.

Addison,
 You had your 18 month well baby checkup today. I can hardly believe you are 18 months already. I have enjoyed you so much. You smile more than any baby I have ever seen before. You are always happy. You are a great little eater. You love anything from apple slices to brownies. You have a serious sweet tooth, I wonder where you got that? You love to play with your brother. You two always chase each other around the house and make each other laugh. I am so glad you two love each other so much. You are so curious, you love to get into everything. You are so smart, you pick up on so many things that it shocks me sometimes. You are talking a lot and learning new words everyday. Today you said 'juice' and walked to the fridge to show me. When changing your stinky diapers, you say 'cah-cah, gross' and wave your hand in front of your face. It is pretty funny. You love to sit on my lap and read books, even if it is 'I love you through and through' five times in a row. You already like to color. Sure, you eat a few of the crayons in the process, but I love your little doodles so much. You started going to nursery and like it as long as you don't see me sneak out. You are so easy to care for. You like to tell me when it is bedtime by getting your blankie and your sippy cup and pulling me to your crib. You like our big dog Duke, even if he licks your face with his big tongue. You bring us so much joy and we feel so blessed to have you in our family. I love you so much!

Today's nap time project (a.k.a. the free time I have when Dodge is in school and Addison is sleeping) I made bows for Addison's hair. Needless to say, I was proud enough of them to post them here! They are going to be adorable with her little piggy tails!

January 7th, 2010: Disneyland!

Grama and Papa Johnson took us all to Disneyland since we had all the grandkids together. We started the day bright and early and walked right across from the hotel to the entrance.

We went to breakfast with the characters. I loved it because not only was the food delicious, all the characters come to your table to sign autographs and take pictures.

After Disneyland, we did a little shopping in downtown disney. Dodge had to see the Lego store. Of course there were some awesome lego figures and we had to get pictures with the coolest ones!

New Years Eve

We didn't make it to midnight, bud Dodge and Addison really enjoyed the party favors at Grama and Papa Johnson's. Happy New Year everyone! I have a lot of hope for an amazing year ahead of us.
